And so the gray, overcast months of every-season-except-summer-in-the-mid-Atlantic have begun today in Ashburn. After yesterday’s upper-80’s, this afternoon featured low-70’s, and a increased usage of burgundy sweat pants.
The team continues to use the seldom-used back-left field, as it was punished the last by the recent torrential downpours. The typical practice fields over to the right of the back entrance to the facility seem to be drying out nicely and “healing.”
Here are the quarterbacks warming up before practice:
As you can see, practice squad quarterback Jonathan Crompton may have the nicest hair flow on the team, which is a direct result of the care that he shows it on the field.
While other long-locked players (like Logan Paulsen) simply jam their helmets on over their hair, Crompton takes the time to make sure it’s tucked back behind both ears, and runs his fingers through his hair once more before putting his helmet on. He repeats periodically throughout team stretches as well.
That attention to detail should help him to pick up the intricacies of the Shanahan offensive plan.
Safety LaRon Landry (hamstring) and Brian Orakpo (ankle) both practiced in a limited capacity yesterday. Both were out there again today with helmets and pads. We’ll know more after head coach Mike Shanahan speaks this afternoon.
