New Redskin Nike Gear Unveiled In NYC

The much-anticipated jerseys will be released later today, but the new official Nike NFL gear is already being unveiled at a ceremony in New York.  We will post updates as they become available, and we will have pictures of Brian Orakpo in uniform later today.

By the way, for those of you expecting dramatic changes to the jersey designs, coloring and logo, I would calm your expectations.  Reports indicate that the jerseys will look very similar to the old Reeboks (just as they looked very similar to the Nikes before them).  What will be different will be the obvious Nike swoosh symbol, as well as a lighter, more breathable, stronger material.  All-in-all, good for the players, but more details when they emerge.

Here’s what we have so far, courtesy of Jessica Monaldo and Jordan Beane of Redskins Broadcast Network:

  1. I’m not thrilled with it and I honestly don’t see myself or my children purchasing any of this with the exception of maybe the hoodie. That quilted coat is awful . . .

  2. I am incredibly dissapointed in the new uniforms.. I think I am like most people and I looked forward to the Redskins stepping into the new era of uniform design. Great for the fans and morale of the team not to mention marketing sales with multiple uniform options. VERY dissapointed… Come on Dan, give us Skins fan something to cheer about! Dang!

Definitely not the owner’s call, or anyone on the team side. This is a discussion between the NFL and Nike, with Redskins input. You want to change something just for the sake of change?

  3. Its not that you change just for the sake of change. But it is changing anyway, so why not throw out a cool new alternative jersey… Use 2 classic styles and throw in another one. You’re starting from scratch anyway. its so simple. I Matte Burgundy helmet would look sweet too.

  4. I agree.. there has been so much talk about the “indina head” logo, why not go back to the arrow and why not throw an alternate jersey in there. Seahawks changed there uni’s up with this new integration. I have learned from a “friend” that NFL wanted to go conservative with the change for years 1 and 2 and then start adding a little more flare into the designs.. why wait? Some of the conceptual images you find online where pretty tight.. just a little dissapointed that there upgraded to Nike and the fabric etc but not in the designs..

  6. I echo that opinion looking at the Seahawks finish product they could have done better by the Skins. I am highly disappointed in Nike finish product. To date the arrow throwback jersey is still the best head and shoulders.
