Alexander Enjoys Capitals Playoffs Action

After his first day of 2012 workouts at Redskins Park, Lorenzo Alexander took time to give back to the D.C. sports community by supporting the Washington Capitals against the Boston Bruins.

The two teams split on the road in Boston before bringing the seven-game series to Washington for the first of two games on home ice.  Alexander has been tweeting feverishly about the opening round of the NHL Playoffs, and enjoyed the game in a John Carlson jersey with his daughter, Vanessa:

But just because Alexander was there as a fan doesn’t mean he wasn’t into the game.  Alexander packed his Redskins special teams “hit stick,” but tweeted that he expected the Caps to play hard-nosed hockey without his contribution:

Once the game began, Alexander continued to tweet his excitement about the game, which eventually ended in a 4-3 Capitals loss.  Bruin Zdeno Chara, a longtime nemesis of the Capitals, hit the game-winner, and Alexander pined for a pair of skates (he later corrected the number to 33):

Just kick Chara a football and I’m sure learning how to skate would be no issue for the Redskins’ special teams ace.

The Capitals look to even the series against Boston on Thursday at 7:30.  The game will be played at the Verizon Center, and will also be aired on NBC.

Alexander is also asking for your support in his annual Ride To Provide bike ride, which will take place this Saturday, April 21.  There’s still plenty of time to sign up and donate, with proceed going to benefit Ride 2 Recovery and Project Hero.  Support is requested in any form possible.
